A Walk With Morgan
The Fairmont Waterfront has included on its payroll a handsome, playful four-legged employee to act as hotel Ambassador. Morgan, the black Labrador retriever started his job in January 2002 and has settled in to his new responsibilities. Morgan's primary duties include greeting guests outside the hotel lobby and accompanying hotel guests on strolls throughout the city. Morgan's most recent claim to fame was receiving 'The Royal Pat' from Her Royal Highness, Queen Elizabeth II, during her Royal Jubilee visit in October, 2002.
Morgan joined The Fairmont Waterfront from The British Columbia Guide Dog Services. The organization recommended one of their overly playful puppies that didn't quite make their final cut, but was more than qualified for the position at the hotel.
Morgan works some doggone good shifts; 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., complete with morning and afternoon naps, and he gets weekends off. Definitely a dog's life. Guests of the hotel who want to walk or play with Morgan simply phone the Front Door to book a convenient time. Morgan's services are complimentary and the only price you might have to pay is a stoop and scoop during a walk - a puppy pack, complete with water, treats and plastic bag is provided by the hotel.
Herb Garden
Located on the hotel's 3rd floor pool deck, The Fairmont Waterfront features a beautiful 2,100 square foot herb garden with over 50 varieties of herbs.
The garden was designed by Merle Michale and planted by NorVan Landscape Design, Ltd. in 1995. The garden is irrigated and basks in the full sunlight. No herbicides or pesticides are used, and the garden has become a haven for small birds. A peregrine falcon visits occasionally to search for dinner.
From the planting of the seeds to the last garnish on the plate, our culinary team enjoys creating a bouquet of herbal delights fresh from the garden. Fresh basil, thyme, lemon-grass, parsley, sage, chives and lavender are just a few of the herbs and edible flowers used in their recipes.
Golf
Westwood Plateau Golf & Country Club
The Fairmont Waterfront, in partnership with Westwood Plateau Golf & Country Club and Helijet International, has created Vancouver's 'Heli-Va-View Golden Golf Package.' This package brings together three distinct partners, each offering spectacular views of Vancouver and surrounding area.
Westwood Plateau Golf and Country Club and the Golf Academy are nestled on the edge of Eagle Mountain in Coquitlam, British Columbia, within easy driving distance from downtown Vancouver. Designed by international golf course architect Michael Hurdzan*, Westwood Plateau's two golf courses provide breathtaking views and memorable moments for golfers of all skill levels. Since opening in 1995, Westwood Plateau Golf and Country Club continues to be recognized as one of the premier daily-fee golf courses in North America. Westwood Plateau is the recipient of many local and international accolades for our food, clubhouse and hospitality. Golf Digest Magazine recently ranked Westwood Plateau Golf and Country Club in the Top 5 for 'Best in Customer Service' out of 6000 facilities in North America and the Caribbean, and Score Magazine named Westwood Plateau's 18 hole course and facilities in the 'Top 10' public golf courses in Canada.
