THE RELAUNCH OF L’ACAJOU

L ’Acajou re-opened in November 2002 after undergoing a spectacular redesign by famous London architect and designer David Collins. David’s most famous works include the recreation of many of London’s top bars and restaurants such as Locanda Locatelli, the bar at Claridge’s, The Blue Bar at The Berkeley and Ceconnis.

Once he was given the brief, David spent many hours exploring the island before he even commenced the work to ensure that the final result would feel right in Barbados. He told us, ‘I wanted to create a restaurant where people would have a great time – not just remember the design ’.

Through clever lighting, brighter colours and using many examples of the natural flora and fauna of Barbados he has achieved a magnificent result.

A good way to experience L’Acajou is to start the evening with a drink in the bar which overlooks the Sandy Lane gardens and has also been designed to feel very much a part of the restaurant.

Dinner in the open-air restaurant is an exciting fusion of European, Asian and Caribbean food, full of different textures and flavours.

The restaurant has cosy seating in the form of banquettes and free standing chairs and is softly lit with hurricane lamps and nightlights on each table creating an intimate atmosphere.

With Ms Jazz Boveu as the newly appointed Restaurant Manager. L’Acajou will surprise and delight you and we look forward to welcoming you during your stay.
