Trump International Sonesta Beach Resort Opens “American Classics Collection”

(July, 2003 - Sunny Isles Beach, Florida)  -- Michael Dezer, developer of the new Trump International Sonesta Beach Resort, Sunny Isles Beach, Florida, has been a lifetime collector of classic American cars and memorabilia, and now opens part of his renowned collection at the resort.

The American Classics Collection at the Trump International Sonesta Beach Resort, worth approximately $5 million, is comprised of 30 automobiles, numerous road signs, gas pumps, posters, radios and other antiques.  The Collection is now on display at the newly opened resort and complimentary tours can be arranged through the concierge. The exhibit space is also available to rent out for private functions.

Among the highlights of the American Classics Collection are:
• 1928 Duesenberg, worth approximately $1 million
• 1950 Mercury, used in a James Dean movie with a 45-record player installed inside
• 1949 Chrysler “Town & Country” convertible, with wooden sides, worth approx. $100,000

Born in Israel in 1941, Michael Dezer graduated from a technical high school there and began his life-long love affair with automobiles and other vehicles.  As a teenager, he journeyed through 10 European countries on his 1957 Vespa scooter.  His first car was a 1949 Plymouth, which is exhibited in the resort’s collection.  After his immigration to America, while working on his BBA and MBA degrees in marketing, Dezer began to collect classic American cars and participated in the 1986 Great American Race.  At one time, he owned the largest and most prized collection of post-war American convertibles (approximately 500 vehicles).

The new 32-story, 390-room Trump International Sonesta Beach Resort is best described by its slogan “Stay Awhile”.  Located within easy access to both South Florida international airports, the beachfront resort offers accommodations designed with elegant, contemporary furnishings in natural earth tones. Most guestrooms and suites range in size from 550 to 1,773 sq. ft. and offer private balconies, wet bar, mini-refrigerator, and microwave oven, CD player/radio, coffee maker, high-speed internet access, cable/web TV, 2-line phones, in-room safe and bathrobes.  One- and two-bedroom suites offer a full kitchen and washer/dryer.  Amenities include a grotto-style beachfront pool and sun deck with fountains, rock formations and waterfalls, as well as air-conditioned cabanas at the pool and beachfront.  The world-class Aquanox Spa offers traditional as well as cutting-edge treatments and service with exclusive product lines.  The resort also features 2 restaurants; 2 lounges; Retail Shops; Business Center; 22,000 sq. ft. of meeting space, including an oceanfront ballroom, for groups up to 250; and shuttle service to South Beach and world-class shopping in Bal Harbour and Aventura.  The project was developed by Donald Trump and Dezer Development Company and is managed by Sonesta International Hotels Corporation.  This is the first Donald Trump development in Miami.
