The Straw Market, is located on the western end of Bay Street, next door to the International Bazaar. The market offers items with a special Bahamian touch which make good gifts or souvenirs. The market is the main attraction of Old Nassau, because it is one of the largest markets of its kind in the world. Hundreds of people, show and sell their work, brightly colored, hand-decorated straw hats, bags, baskets, totes, mats, slippers, wall hangings, and dolls. A unique market offering more than straw souvenirs there are other goods like necklaces and bracelets strung with shells, sharks' teeth, and bright beans, berries, or pods; clothing; and original oils, prints, and wood carvings. Don’t be shy to bargain, all prices are negotiable and its all part of the fun!
